Khao Piak Sen Noodles

Lao rice noodles · Also known as bánh canh · Gluten-free

4.91 47 reviews

Khao Piak Sen: thick, chewy, and genuinely fresh — never dried. It is the noodle in Lao chicken noodle soup, Vietnamese bánh canh, and a lot of Hmong family kitchens.

Boil your broth, drop them in, and in 5–7 minutes the tapioca turns even plain bouillon silky. One 2 lb pack feeds five. Made in Wisconsin.

I’ve always wanted to try making Khao Piak Sen, but I never knew how to make the noodles myself. I tried once before, but the instructions weren’t in English, so I couldn’t understand them and ended up messing them up. 😅

I live in a small town, and the nearest Asian grocery store is over 90 miles away, so finding these noodles hasn’t been easy. I was a little skeptical about buying them because I knew I would have to freeze them, and I wasn’t sure how well they would hold up.

I was SO pleasantly surprised! The noodles held up perfectly after being frozen and cooked beautifully without breaking into pieces. I LOVE IT!! ❤️ I’m so happy I found these noodles. Thank you so much! 😊

Love it! Great product.

Chewy, great for khao piek. However, after being in the pot of broth for 40- to an hour, the noodles become translucent and lose that chewy tapioca texture. Wish the noodles were a bit more thick.
